Welcome:

Hi, my name is Irakli Gagua and I am writing and running this site along with some friends here in Tbilisi. We built this web site to be a clearinghouse for information about Georgia during the war and now the occupation. I am not Georgian, but I do live in Tbilisi with my wife and child and I intend to stay if we can do so safely. The US embassy evacuated us to Yerevan, Armenia for a few days, but we came back when the invasion of Tbilisi seemed less likely to materialize.

Here at SOS Georgia we are striving to present the true facts about what is really going on, stories from Refuges and people on the scene, contact information for source for Journalists and a way for supporters of Georgians around the world to connect with one another, exchange ideas and make plans for protest and rallies.  Most of all we are trying out best to keep Georgia free from Russian occupation and annexation and continue our progress as a democratic and independent country with strong ties to the west.   Our goal is to be an honest broker of information, of course biased, inevitably, based on where we live, but as fair and truthful as we can possibly be.

Spread the word, tell everyone you know about this site.  We must do everything we can to stop the occupation, prevent a resumption of the violence, and end the suffering of the 40,000+ refugees who very well may never be allowed to go home.

Please, if you have any articles, stories or suggestions please send them to us immediately at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Note: We are constantly under attack by Russian Denial of Service attacks (likely Kremlin ordered) and you may have trouble sometimes accessing us.  All we can ask is that you try again in a few minutes.  We are working hard at counteracting these attacks but we do not have the resources they do.  Hopefully we will resolve these issues soon.

We receive funding and support from a number of sources, including local businesses, NGO’s and some Government ministries (who provide us with data).  After the site came under attack we had no choice but to raise money and find qualified experts to protect the site from black hat hackers and find DDOS resistant hosting.  Everything just grew from that.  However, no one is able to tell us what to publish or not to publish.  We have editorial freedom to speak our minds in whatever way we wish.

Yours,

Irakli Gagua
